“Yes Adam Noorian” is a bilingual play for a multiplatform live show that aims to combine elements of theater, film and new media to convey a personal story. The play is partially based on the semi-autobiographical novel “The Book of Adam” written by Hakob Karapents, a prolific Armenian writer and one of the founding fathers of the Ararat cultural organization in Iran, who later migrated to Boston, Massachusetts and continued his writing career until his unexpected death in 1994.
Set in the present day Los Angeles, the play focuses on “Adam”, an Armenian-Iranian immigrant and independent filmmaker who overwhelmed by a recent divorce from his Armenian wife “Melineh” is hesitant to make a new commitment to her American sweetheart “Zelda”. Beside this love triangle on the surface, we see through Adam’s struggles of overcoming his midlife crisis as he deals with mesmerizing memories of not belonging, which often involves tentative visits of his alter ego “Giragos”.
